LED Lighting-A step in the right way for Save Electricity

LED or Light Emitting Diode is a solid state semiconductor device where illumination is achieved on exciting the crystal resulting in emission of visible light. The technology of LED lights has been discussed since 1960s but has found applications for domestic scene only recently. The invention of the LED has been marked as one of the most significant inventions in the 20th century. It has become clear that LEDs have revolutionized the future of lighting.

LEDs have a lower power consumption that the conventional bulbs. As a result they can significantly decrease the money spent on paying electricity bills. This makes the use of LEDs highly popular in commercial establishments where a lot of money is spent on electricity. The extended use of LEDs in towns and cities can significantly lower power consumption. LED lights are better then the compact fluorescent bulbs, which are widely popular due to their long life. LED lights can outlast them by 10 times. Unlike the compact fluorescent bulbs, which contain dangerous chemicals like mercury, the LEDs are safe to use.

LED lights can outlast regular bulbs and fluorescent bulbs by thousands. This implies less money spent on buying new bulbs and reduced efforts and time in changing the bulbs. Durability and economical advantages are the two main factors that set LED lights apart from others. LEDs are strong and can withstand extreme temperatures. This makes them ideal for outdoor use. LEDs are rugged and do not have any filaments that can get damaged due to shock. They produce minimal heat and no harmful radiation which makes them perfect for illuminating homes, offices, etc. LEDs are also used for illuminating objects of art which are sensitive to heat.

The small size of the LED lights enables them to be used in miniature appliances and fixtures.

The LED lights are being used widely as more and more people are becoming aware of their numerous benefits. They are eco-friendly and have silent operation. These are available in a variety of colors and are durable as a result of which, these don’t have to be changed frequently. LED lighting has a bright future and is an ideal way to curb the increasing demand for electricity and save money spent on electricity. LED lights are widely used in traffic signal lights, exit signs, Airports, malls, Railway platforms, etc. They are also used in Wall lighting, Outdoor lighting, and as parking bay lights. With so many versatile functions, LED lights will soon become a primary lighting source for all domestic and commercial establishments.
